Managing a chronic condition can be full of challenges. Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Healthier Living Workshops have helped many with Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Disease, Obesity, chronic pain and other issues overcome the challenges of chronic illness.
Healthier Living Workshops are free six-week sessions starting February 2 at the Godnick Center on Deer Street in Rutland that provide practical ways to handle chronic conditions. Additional classes will be held on February 9, 16, 23 and March 2 and 9. Classes are held 9 to 11:30 am and pre-registration is required. To register for this program or for more information, please visit RRMC.org or call 802.773.9888 ext. 22.
The six-week sessions help participants learn to set goals and break goals into small steps, week by week. All workshops cover nutrition, exercise, stress management, managing medicines, setting realistic goals, and planning for the future. After completing the workshops participants report having more energy, fewer symptoms, less disability, and improved communication with their family and health care providers. While the workshop does not take the place of existing programs or treatment plans, it is helpful in giving participants the skills needed to coordinate and manage their health.
Healthier Living Workshops are an initiative of the Community Health Department at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Rutland Regional provides free services and educational programming as a key support for the continuing health of our community.
