Baldrige National Quality ProgramIn our quest to Be the Best Community Hosptial and Health System in New England, Rutland Regional Medical Center has selected the Baldrige framework as its roadmap. The framework, based upon the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, calls for an organized and integrated approach to becoming an excellent organization. The Baldrige framework also includes proven methods for assessing an organization and gaining feedback about an organization's strengths and opportunites for improvement.
Rutland Regional initiated this rigorous, multi-year process in 2003 beginning with a comprehesive organizational self-assessment. Since that time, numerous organizational iniatives have been pursued to design and implement key processes that are essential for excellence. Rutland Regional has conducted four organizational assessments in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively to measure our progress on this exciting journey.
The Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence and its accompanying awards program (The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award) were established in 1987 by the National Institute for Standards and Technology.
The Vermont Council for Quality also adminsters a State awards program based upon the national model.
