Baldrige National Quality Program
Rutland Regional Medical Center is one step closer to its quest to Be the Best Community Hospital and Health System in New England by receiving the Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence on May 21, 2010. The Governor’s Award, based upon the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, calls for an organized and integrated approach to becoming an excellent organization. The Baldrige framework also includes proven methods for assessing an organization and gaining feedback about an organization's strengths and opportunities for improvement.
Rutland Regional initiated this rigorous, multi-year process in 2003 beginning with a comprehensive organizational self-assessment. Since that time, numerous organizational initiatives have been pursued to design and implement key processes that are essential for excellence. Rutland Regional has conducted four organizational assessments in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively to measure our progress on this exciting journey.
The Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence and its accompanying awards program (The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award) were established in 1987 by the National Institute for Standards and Technology. On May 20, 2010, Rutland Regional Medical Center submitted its application for The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The Vermont Council for Quality administers the State awards program based upon the national model.
