Outreach: Two paid advertisements were printed in the Rutland Herald on February 8th and February 13th. A notice was also printed in the Public Notice Section of the Rutland Herald. A press release was sent out to all local news media and emailed to all RRMC staff.
Location: Rutland Regional Medical Center Conference Center
Attendance: 11 people attended, 4 community members and 7 who work in the healthcare field
Discussion points: An overview of the 2004 Community Health Assessment was presented by Sarah Narkewicz, Coordinator of the 2004 Health Assessment. An update on actions related to each priority was presented by Tom Huebner, CEO RRMC and Mary Lou Bolt, District Director of the Vermont Department of Health.
Public Feedback: Comments included needs for:
- a state law for the mentally ill to be admitted against their will
- more health education in schools, specifically for nutrition
- more education for the public about healthcare issues
- an improved economy in Rutland County

Attendance: 8 people attended, 3 community member and 5 who work in health care
Discussion Points: Sarah Narkewicz RN MS, presented the priorities from the 2004 Community Health Assessment. Tom Huebner, CEO RRMC presented an on-line tour of the RRMC report card and action on priorities. Mary Lou Bolt, District Director of the Vermont Department of Health presented the Blue Print for Health initiative.
Public Feedback: Comment included the need to:
- improve Rotary Park
- increase services for youth substance abuse treatment programs
- provide a mobile health van
- provide information about Rutland’s role in the transition of the Vermont State Hospital
- combine the public comment meeting with another event to get more participation
