Efforts to Address PrioritiesIncrease the availability of mental health and substance abuse services
- The Bowse Health Trust approved a $100,000 grant for Serenity House to increase its detoxification program from 4 beds to 11 beds.
- Rutland now has a child and adolescent psychiatrist.
- There are 2 providers who are providing Buprenorphine treatment.
- Valley Vista has opened a 6 bed residential adolescent treatment program.
- Mental Health Services are being provided as Castleton Family Health Center by a part-time mental health clinician
- Fair Haven school has a Student Assistance Program.
- The Bowse Health Trust approved $88,000 to fund the Tapestry After-School Counseling Program to provide counseling and referral to 200 youth.
Decrease heart disease and associated risk factors
- The Bowse Trust has approved $60,000 for the Quest program which will improve physical activity and nutrition for the students in the Southwest Supervisory Union.
- The Bowse Trust approved $60,000 for Triple Play, a program at the Boys and Girls club that provides physical activity, nutrition and positive self-esteem programs for its members.
- The Bowse Trust approved $42,000 for Walk Rutland, a program sponsored by the Rutland Area Physical Activity Coalition aimed at increasing the number of adults who are physically active.
- RRMC recruited a 4th cardiologist.
- RRMC uses CT angiography to diagnose heart disease.
- RRMC is recruiting another endocrinologist.
- More worksites are offering wellness program (RRMC is offering an incentive program to 100 employees annually)
- Rutland County Health Advisory Committee has wellness grants to 6 worksites
- RRMC coordinates the Healthier Living Workshops for Rutland County, there are 7 trained facilitators and 48 people have completed the program.
Improve Access to primary care system
- The Community Health Centers for the Rutland Region (practices in Castelton, Pawlet, and Brandon) are now a Federally Qualified Health System.
- RRMC is investing $1,500,000 electronic medical record.
- RRMC applied to be a Blue Print community, and was not chosen at this time. However Rutland County is receiving fund to promote physical activity and Healthier Living workshops
