Hospitalist Program Rutland Regional Medical Center's Hospitalist Program ensures constant physician care for patients who are hospitalized.

The hospital's on-site Hospitalists, general internal medicine physicians specially trained to care for patients within the hospital, see patients frequently throughout inpatient stays. Available 24 hours a day, they review test results, oversee and adjust treatment regimens, and communicate with family members and primary care physicians.

Since Hospitalists are familiar with all hospital departments and specialty areas, they are uniquely qualified to assist primary care physicians with hospital treatment until patients are well enough to be discharged. At that time, Hospitalists work with case managers and primary care physicians to ensure smooth transitions to outpatient care.
