Our Services > The Sleep Center

The Center for Sleep Disorders at Rutland Regional Medical Center provides testing for patients experiencing sleep difficulties. The Center's 10-member multispecialty care team made up of expert physicians, healthcare professionals from a variety of fields and registered sleep technologists who are dedicated to discovering and resolving the causes of sleep disorders.

This state-of-the-art facility includes four comfortable, private patient testing rooms that are specially equipped to allow constant visual and sleep pattern monitoring throughout the night. Patients of ages 4 and above can undergo testing for conditions such as sleep apnea, snoring, and narcolepsy simply by sleeping as they normally do.

The Center for Sleep Disorders' multi-purpose sleep room has an extra bed for parents/guardians/caretakers to be present with the patient during the sleep testing. There are two testing rooms for daytime sleep studies. Which were created especially for patients who work alternate shifts and do most of their sleeping during daylight hours.

Tours of the Center for Sleep Disorders for children and interested individuals who need an introduction to the unit prior to testing can be scheduled.

After testing, patients may be referred to a specialist such as a pulmonologist, dentist, neurologist, otolaryngologist, psychiatrist and dietician for additional treatment.

A joint program for the treatment of Insomnia with the Psychiatry Department and the Center for Sleep Disorders is available through the Behavioral Health Clinic.

The Center for Sleep Disorders accepts direct referrals from all community providers.

Home Sleep Testing is also offered to those patients who qualify. Referrals will be reviewed by the medical director to ensure appropriate testing is performed.

The Center for Sleep Disorders at Rutland Regional Medical Center is Vermont's first nationally accredited sleep disorders center. Accreditation is awarded by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
