Women’s & Children’s Services
A private, designated area of the hospital, Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Women & Children’s Unit provides specialty care for women’s health events, including childbirth, and pediatric health concerns.
The Unit’s Birthing Center features five private, comfortable birthing suites that allow mothers to labor, deliver and get to know their newborns in the same room. Registered Nurses offer comfort and encouragement to women, and their support people, throughout the birth. Afterward, they provide specialized mother-baby nursing care and instruction during the hospital stay.
If a mother desires, her newborn may share her hospital room. During pregnancy, women and their physicians may utilize the Birthing Center for outpatient testing services. Children undergoing hospital treatment rest in the unit’s bright, cheerful rooms and are cared for by friendly pediatric Registered Nurses.
Visitors are encouraged, and parents may accompany children to their treatments and examinations. The Pediatric Procedure Room, located within the unit, was designed with children’s comfort in mind. This nonthreatening space features walls decorated with owls, bears, rabbits and other forest friends, a large window, and a collection of games, books and toys.
