Rutland Regional Medical Center Sponsors a Heart Check Center at Diamond Run Mall & Lets Thousands Test Their Blood Pressure Every Week for FREE
Rutland, VT -- One of the most important health checks that every American should do, but rarely does, is routinely check their blood pressure. According to recent estimates, nearly one in three U.S. adults has high blood pressure, but because there are no symptoms, nearly one-third of these people don't even know they have it. In fact, many people have high blood pressure for years without knowing it.
This is the reason why high blood pressure is often called the "silent killer."
Studies indicate that high blood pressure kills approximately 50,000 people in the U.S. each year, and contributes to the death of over 200,000 annually. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure, and the only way for someone to find out if they have high blood pressure is to have their blood pressure checked.
In Rutland, Cardiology Services at RRMC cleverly figured out a way to make blood pressure testing much easier and more accessible to the community. The hospital now sponsors a bright red, easy-to-spot Heart Check Center (HCC) blood pressure testing kiosk display at the Diamond Run Mall which thousands of people are taking advantage of every week.
With no appointment needed, no cost required, never any waiting lines, and no invasive procedures required – you just place your arm in the testing cuff and read the kiosk’s directions - in just two minutes, the Heart Check Center is able to clearly and accurately read one’s blood pressure.
The kiosk is located near the Food Court entrance of the mall.
