RRMC awarded accreditation in Nuclear Medicine
Mar 13, 2007
RRMC is now accredited in four areas of Diagnostic Imaging
Rutland, VT – The Diagnostic Imaging Department has received an accreditation for Nuclear Medicine, by the American College of Radiology. Four areas of imaging at RRMC are now accredited, including PET scan, MRI, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine. RRMC is the only hospital in
Vermont that is accredited in Nuclear Medicine.
The ACR accreditation process includes two components: the imaging technology and how it’s used by medical staff. An accreditation demonstrates a commitment to the highest level of patient care, and cutting-edge technology. “ACR provides a method for outside expert assessment of our practice. We are pleased to have recently received accreditation in Nuclear Medicine and previously for CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Mammography” said Dr. James Rademacher, Radiologist.
The nuclear scanner performs approximately 40 scans a week, including scans of the heart, bones, gall bladder, and even kidneys. One benefit of the Nuclear Scanner that patients really appreciate is that they don’t have to change out of their clothing for the scan as they do with traditional scanning devices. Nuclear Medicine received a three-year accreditation term from ACR. According to ACR, this is awarded for the achievement of high practice standards, the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. “The Department of Diagnostic Imaging at RRMC wants to demonstrate to our community, our patients and our referring physicians that we are committed to providing the highest quality imaging care,” said Dr. Rademacher.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic-interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
