"Help is just a button push away"
Rutland Regional Medical Center's Lifeline program is a personal response system that allows subscribers to remain in their homes with the security of someone available at the touch of a button, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 802.747.1816 for an application and more information.
Some insurance companies provide coverage for Lifeline. Studies show that for every $1 invested in the program, $7.19 is saved in community health care dollars. Cost is only $38 per month, with a one-time installation fee of $43. Services, such as Lifeline, reduce hospital admissions and emergency room visits by promoting access to earlier intervention.
Of the calls made to Lifeline, 50 percent are related to falls, 18 percent are cardiac-related, another 18 percent need assistance with medical equipment or medication reminders, and the remaining 14 percent considered non-urgent, non-medical.
The average customer stays on Lifeline for two years. From the isolated elder trying to maintain their independence, to the younger disabled adult, customers feel the service provides security, reassurance, and peace of mind that trained help will be available in medical emergencies.
