Rutland Regional Medical Center is applying for Magnet Recognition. So what is Magnet Recognition?

 

The Magnet Recognition Program® was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. Magnet designation is the highest international recognition for nursing excellence. Only 2% of hospitals nation wide have achieved Magnet designation.

 

The purpose of our Nursing Center of Excellence is to sustain and advance:


• High quality outcomes for our patients

Integration of Research and Evidence-based Practice

• Structure for staff to lead and direct the practice of professional nursing

• High recruitment and retention of superior nursing professionals

• ANCC board certified nurses have met strong professional development requirements. Certified nurses are experts in their field of practice.

Rutland Regional nurses, such as Connie Morgan, RN from The Women’s and Children’s Services Unit, volunteer nursing care at Park Street Health share, a free non emergent medical clinic.

Carol Curran, RN, from the Medical/Oncology Unit is a member of the parish council at her church.

Sue Laporte, RN, from the Progressive Care Unit serves on the Mettowee school board, the Board of Directors for the Rutland Visiting Nurses Association.

Melissa Messier, RN, from the Medical/Oncology Unit hosts exchange students.

Collette Cavan, RN, from the Progressive Care Unit is a parent advocate for children with special needs.

Rhonda Edwards, RN, from the Medical/Oncology Unit is a Girl Scout leader.
