The Diabetes and Endocrinology Team
At the Rutland Diabetes & Endocrinology Center, our specialized staff works together to provide patients and the community with the best available medical treatment, guidance, support and resources available for diabetes and endocrine care.
The team works in collaboration with your primary care physician to develop and manage a personalized treatment plan based on your individual needs. Your team may include a:
- Board Certified Endocrinologist. An endocrinologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect your hormone producing glands. An endocrinologist treats many complex conditions by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in your system.
- A Certified Nurse Practitioner. Our certified nurse practitioners are also available for ongoing and preventive care for pediatric and adult patients with diabetes and work in collaboration with our endocrinologists
- Diabetes Nurse Educator. Certified by the American Diabetes Association, our diabetes nurse educators meet one-on-one with patients to teach self management skills. They also instruct patients in group classes. Our diabetes nurse educators are specially trained and certified in all aspects of diabetes education.
- Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist. Our registered dietitians and nutritionists will meet with you to evaluate your nutritional needs, develop a nutritional care plan and instruct you and your family on how to make the proper food choices to improve your health and manage or reduce your disease symptoms. Our registered dietitians are also certified by the ADA and are specially educated and certified in all aspects of diabetes education.
