An experienced team, including doctors trained in orthopaedic spine surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and osteopathic medicine manages the Spine Care Program. Knowledgeable physician assistants and nurse navigators provide superior communication, access, and overall patient care. The Spine Care team diagnoses and treats a broad spectrum of conditions affecting the spine.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 
Dr. Michael Kenosh is a physiatrist, a doctor specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has served as the medical director for Rehabilitation Services at Rutland Regional Medical Center since 1997. His exceptional training through the University of Washington Hospitals in Seattle has been enhanced by continuing education and training through numerous professional organizations.

Dr. Kenosh is an experienced electrodiagnostician and has been performing fluoroscopically guided spinal injections since 1996. His ultimate goal is to help patients navigate through a complex landscape of medical information and opinion, provide education and empowerment, and develop a shared plan to assist them in regaining control of their lives.

Matthew G. Zmurko, MD

Orthopaedic Spine Surgery
Dr. Matthew Zmurko is a Board-Certified orthopaedic surgeon with specialty training in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He has been affiliated with the Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic since 2007. Dr. Zmurko has received special training in minimally invasive surgical techniques for spinal disorders.  

Dr. Zmurko received his medical degree from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine and did his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Wayne State University-Detroit Medical Center. Following his orthopaedic residency, Dr. Zmurko did a fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Virginia Health System.

Dr. Arabella Bull-Stewart received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007 and completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the New York University Langone Medical Center. Her specialties include Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment and Acupuncture, with a holistic emphasis on recovery from serious injury and surgery.

Ms. Fratino has been a Physician Assistant 
at Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic since 2008. Christa holds certifications in both Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). The focus of her work involves assisting Dr. Matthew Zmurko in orthopaedic spine treatment, in both the office and operating room.

She received her Physician Assistant degree from Wagner College in 2006 and her Master's degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2011.

Mary Beth Alberico, RN, BSN, CRRN

VOC Spine Care Program Nurse Navigator
Mary Beth received her RN at Castleton State College and her BSN at Norwich University. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse. As the Program’s Nurse Navigator, Mary Beth manages new patient referrals and identifies high risk patients through in-depth data collection. She facilitates spine specialists’ recommendations. She also provides patient education, coordination of patient care by facilitating communication among patients, specialists and referring physicians, as well as tracks patients’ progress and outcomes.
