Rutland Regional is Nationally Recognized with an ‘A’ Rating for the Spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

RUTLAND, VT, MAY 10, 2022 – Rutland Regional Medical Center has once again received an “A” grade from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, this time for the Spring 2022 grading period. The “A” grade is a national distinction recognizing Rutland Regional’s achievements in protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.

Measure like the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade help us to continue to do our best to ensure patient safety,” said Melbourne Boynton, MD, Chief Medical Director of Rutland Regional Medical Center. “Our goal is to deliver effective, safe and compassionate care to every patient, every time.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospitals’ prevention of medical errors and other harms to patients in their care.

As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership of Rutland Regional Medical Center for their sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement, and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud.”
