Rutland Regional is accredited by The University of Vermont which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. AMA Category I credit is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis with one hour of participation earning one credit. Every effort is made to ensure that specialty society accreditation is also obtained for appropriate programs, so that physicians attending these courses may earn the credit most useful to them in fulfilling their continuing medical education requirements.

Cardiologist

Cardiologist speaking with patientWe are looking for a non-invasive, Fellowship trained cardiologist to join our group of four cardiologists, and staff of 30. The Rutland Heart Center is a Department of Rutland Regional Medical Center, located in the heart of the Green Mountain near Killington Ski Resort. BC/BE in cardiovascular diseases and certified in subspecialties of nuclear cardiology and echocardiology preferred. Strong experience in pacemaker insertion would be a plus. Includes all aspects of in/outpatient cardiology evaluation and management. Additional responsibilities include interpretation of holter and event monitors, as well as device interrogations.

Critical Care Medicine – Medical Director

Critical Care provider with a patient in a bedWe are looking for an experienced Critical Care physician to lead our Intensivist group. Rutland Regional Medical Center has a well-established Critical Care service. The Hospital is the second largest in Vermont and is a full-service community hospital with many medical and surgical specialties represented. The optimal candidate has greater than 7 years of Intensivist experience, and strong clinical, procedural, and administrative skills. The position is approximately 75% clinical and 25% administrative directorship of the Intensive Care unit. The unit is a 13-bed multidisciplinary Medical-Surgical unit. The Critical Care team consists of 2.5 Intensivist FTEs and 3 Critical Care Advanced Practice Clinician FTEs. The Intensivists function as the attendings for all Medical ICU admissions, and as consultants/co-managers for all Surgical ICU admissions. We provide primary in-house day coverage, consult for the ED and inpatient services, and serve as a backup resource for the night in-house Advanced Practice Clinicians.

The Administrative Directorship can include medical leadership of Respiratory Care as well as a chronic ventilator care unit in a nearby extended care facility. Strong intrapersonal and communication skills are essential.

The right candidate will support trainee education and supervision for ICU rotations from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and various PA and NP programs. A Clinical appointment at the University of Vermont College of Medicine is available.

The ICU has experienced nursing representation, strong respiratory care support, and a clinical pharmacist and nutritionist as part of the ICU team. We also have an active palliative care support service integrated into our system of care. We use the Cerner EMR and the GE PACS system.

Endocrinologist

Board Certification or eligibility required. The practice is affiliated with Rutland Regional Medical Center. Rutland Regional is the second largest hospital in the state and licensed for 133 beds in a service area of 85,000. Our endocrine clinic includes on-site ultrasound for diagnostics and FNA, Certified Diabetes Educators, Registered Dietician, and full support for insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring technology and downloading of all major blood glucose meters.

Gastroenterology NP

We are looking for an inpatient/outpatient clinical Advanced Practitioner to join our General Surgery team. Our General Surgery practice is hospital owned. This is a fulltime position. Under the direction of the General Surgery Medical Director and physicians, the AP will provide healthcare services to surgical patients, following established standards in both an inpatient and clinic setting.

Patient encounters will include the breadth of nonoperative clinical care in a surgical practice. Day-to-day primary responsibility will be given to operative and procedural assisting. Ability to perform, and/or learn to competency, bedside procedures is an expectation of the position.

Hospitalist

doctor with patient in a bedWe are looking for an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Hospitalist to join our team of sixteen. Rutland Regional Medical Center is the second largest hospital in Vermont with 133 licensed beds serving Rutland County and the outlying region. Our experienced staff has served the community since 2000 and work closely with our numerous specialists, clinical support staff and community partners to deliver expert care to our patients. Our closed ICU is staffed with full time intensivists to aid with critically ill patients and no ICU responsibility is expected. We support our ED staff with 2 dedicated Hospitalist admitters in the afternoon to help improve the care and flow of our patients presenting to the hospital. Our admitters and rounders work 14 shifts in 28 days plus 2 weeks’ vacation. The hours of the admitter shift are from 11am-9pm. Rounders work 7am-5pm.

Salaries for 168 shifts, and 182 shifts.

Must be board certified or board eligible. Eligibility is within five year of completion of training.

Hospitalist NP

We are looking for an Acute Care or Adult Nurse Practitioner to join our Hospitalist team. Rutland Regional Medical Center is the second largest hospital in Vermont with 133 licensed beds serving Rutland County and the outlying region. Our experienced staff has served the community since 2000 and work closely with our numerous specialists, clinical support staff, and community partners to deliver expert care to our patients.

The Hospitalist admissions’ team consists of a Hospitalist and a Nurse Practitioner to support our ED with needs of those patients requiring admission to the hospital. In addition to supporting the Admitter the Nurse Practitioner assists the Inpatient Rounding teams as needed to meet patient needs on a daily basis.

Salary: Dependent on Experience

Minimum Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Graduate of an American Medical Association approved Physician Assistant educational Program.

Must have 2 years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience in Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Gerontology

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registration with the Vermont State Education Department as a Nurse Practitioner and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or equivalent certifying bodies, or
  • Registration with the Vermont State Board of Medical Practice as a Physician's Assistant and certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on the Certification of Physicians Assistants.
  • Department specific certifications as required (ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC, CPI) per specific department operational framework.

Neurologist

Seeking an ABPN BC/BE neurologist, preferably with EEG and EMG experience. Broad based general neurology practice with opportunity to expand practice to incorporate botulinum toxin injections for migraine, cervical dystonia, and limb spasticity.

Hospital owned practice with 4.5 office days with 1:4 call as a consultant for inpatients. Nighttime call is predominantly phone based. Well established EMR with hospital and home digital imaging, EEG, and EMG viewing capability.

Psychiatry – Medical Director

We are looking for a qualified psychiatrist to lead our team of psychiatric providers as the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at Rutland Regional Medical Center. This is a hospital employed position with the Behavioral Health Service Line.

The Medical Director for Psychiatric Services at Rutland Regional is responsible for oversight of 8 additional psychiatric providers in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, assisting with the management of the inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic, serving as an ambassador and liaison with other hospital departments, and fostering relationships with our outside partners. The inpatient unit includes an 18-bed general unit and adjacent 6-bed psychiatric ICU which is a state level unit that only accepts referrals through the state Department of Mental Health. Approximately 90% of admissions to the General unit are voluntary whereas most admissions to the psychiatric ICU are involuntary. The inpatient team has been recognized by the State of Vermont for its exemplary work in leading the effort to reduce the incidence of seclusion and restraint. The successful candidate will be aligned philosophically with goal of minimizing all forms of coercive treatment through implementation of national best practice models. The psychiatry staff also manages a highly collaborative hospital C&L service.

The ideal candidate would need to be willing to have their clinical work spread between multiple areas of service including but not limited to inpatient psychiatry, C&L psychiatry, outpatient services at our Medication Assisted Treatment Center and possible geriatric psychiatry in local nursing homes. The ideal candidate would also be expected to participate in the collaborative problem-solving of situations that arise in the hospital that involve Psychiatric Services.

The hospital is licensed for 133 beds with a service area of 85,000.

The candidate must be board certified or board eligible. Board eligibility is within five years of completion of training.

The position is 40% administrative and up to 60% clinical with a base salary, a productivity bonus and overnight call pay that would be in addition to the base salary.

Pulmonologist

Rutland Regional Medical Center is looking for a pulmonary/critical care physician or a pulmonary only physician. This is a hospital employed position.

  • Pulmonary outpatient office is located within the hospital, shared with two pulmonologist, and includes a full support staff and PFT lab.
  • The intensive care side of the opportunity will collaborate with two fulltime intensivists and three overnight APPs overseeing the patients. 13 bed ICU.

Either fulltime pulmonary or time split between the pulmonary patient care and the ICU patient care will be negotiable.

We are the second largest city and hospital, serving and a broad population of 85k throughout the county, neighboring counties, and into eastern New York state.

Express Care FQHC

Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region has an excellent opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to treat urgent care patients at our primary care clinic located in Bomoseen, Vermont. The express care/same day service is embedded in our primary care practice. The schedule is 3/ 12 hour shifts with weekend rotation; no call. Candidates must have experience in doing suturing and I & D, be highly independent and able to treat all age groups. Hours of care 8a-8p.

After hours call is phone triage only and shared among all the practices. This makes call responsibility is minimal. Admission to the hospital will be referred to the Hospitalist Medicine program. Community Health Centers are Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and provide a network of Family Practitioners, Internists, Psychiatrists, Dentists and Social Workers. Community Health utilizes an integrated Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management system. Psychiatrist, Adult – FQHC

Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region is seeking a Psychiatrist to treat patients at our clinics in the Rutland community. Prior experience working in a community health center is preferred. Position will include supervision of a Nurse Practitioner, coordinating plan of care with primary care providers and providing them with psychiatric consults, working collaboratively with our behavioral health team, completing diagnostic evaluations and on going medical management services.
