We are looking for an experienced Critical Care physician at Rutland Regional Medical Center. The Hospital is the second largest in Vermont and is a full-service community hospital with many medical and surgical specialties represented. The unit is a 13-bed multidisciplinary Medical-Surgical unit. The Critical Care team consists of 2.5 Intensivist FTEs and 3 Critical Care Advanced Practice Clinician FTEs. The Intensivists function as the attendings for all Medical ICU admissions, and as consultants/co-managers for all Surgical ICU admissions. We provide primary in-house day coverage, consult for the ED and inpatient services, and serve as a backup resource for the night in-house Advanced Practice Clinicians.
The right candidate will support trainee education and supervision for ICU rotations from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and various PA and NP programs. A Clinical appointment at the University of Vermont College of Medicine is available.
The ICU has experienced nursing representation, strong respiratory care support, and a clinical pharmacist and nutritionist as part of the ICU team. We also have an active palliative care support service integrated into our system of care. We use the Cerner EMR and the GE PACS system.

ABEM Board Certified Emergency Physician with at least two years of clinical experience preferred. EM residency trained Board Eligible physicians will certainly be considered, must be within 5 years of completion of residency with plans to become boarded.

We are looking forward to hiring a full-time Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Hospitalist to join our team of fifteen. The Rutland Regional Hospital Medicine program began in 2000 and has served the inpatient needs of our community in collaboration with our dedicated outpatient care partners. Our hospitalists work collaboratively with our many departments including a full spectrum of consulting services, a physician run closed ICU and a breath of support services from diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, and lab. Our daily team consists of four rounding physicians, two daytime admitting providers (1 physician and 1 APP) and one Nocturnist. Our Nocturnists work 11 shifts in 28 days with 2 weeks’ vacation totaling 132 shifts per year. We employ 10 hour shifts from 9:00pm-7:00am and have no ICU or bedside procedure responsibility. Our rounding teams have an average daily census of 12-14 and we have an average number of daily admissions of 13 spread among the 3 admitting providers.

Psychiatry – Medical Director
We are looking for a qualified psychiatrist to lead our team of psychiatric providers as the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at Rutland Regional Medical Center. This is a hospital employed position with the Behavioral Health Service Line.
The Medical Director for Psychiatric Services at Rutland Regional is responsible for oversight of 8 additional psychiatric providers in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, assisting with the management of the inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic, serving as an ambassador and liaison with other hospital departments, and fostering relationships with our outside partners. The inpatient unit includes an 18-bed general unit and adjacent 6-bed psychiatric ICU which is a state level unit that only accepts referrals through the state Department of Mental Health. Approximately 90% of admissions to the General unit are voluntary whereas most admissions to the psychiatric ICU are involuntary. The inpatient team has been recognized by the State of Vermont for its exemplary work in leading the effort to reduce the incidence of seclusion and restraint. The successful candidate will be aligned philosophically with goal of minimizing all forms of coercive treatment through implementation of national best practice models. The psychiatry staff also manages a highly collaborative hospital C&L service.
The ideal candidate would need to be willing to have their clinical work spread between multiple areas of service including but not limited to inpatient psychiatry, C&L psychiatry, outpatient services at our Medication Assisted Treatment Center and possible geriatric psychiatry in local nursing homes. The ideal candidate would also be expected to participate in the collaborative problem-solving of situations that arise in the hospital that involve Psychiatric Services.

The Intensive Care unit is a 12 bed multidisciplinary unit staffed with three fulltime intensivists who cover on a 24/7 basis as well as night coverage with associate providers.
