Eight - 3-hour sessions led by members of the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse & Hospice Team and covering aspects of death preparedness, differences and similarities between palliative care and comfort care in hospice, physical symptoms leading up to death, grief and bereavement and spiritual support and support for family and other caregivers. Types of volunteer assignments and adherence to policies regarding privacy and confidentiality will also be covered.
Hospice Volunteer Training will begin on Thursday, October 16, 2014 and run on Thursdays from 4:30-7:30pm and Saturday mornings from 9am until Noon. The last class will be on Saturday, November 8. Classes are free and materials will be provided. It is expected that trainees make all classes unless there is an unavoidable conflict or family emergency.
