Reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes with the CDC’s Diabetes Prevention Program
Over the course of 16 weekly one-hour sessions, a trained lifestyle coach will help you learn about healthy eating, getting started with physical activity, overcoming stress, staying motivated and other behavior changes, all in a comfortable classroom setting.
This Diabetes Prevention Program is based on research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which has shown that by making small lifestyle changes such as eating healthier and increasing physical activity, a person with prediabetes can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes by 58% .
This year-long program starts Thursday, June 6 from 4-5pm and takes place every Thursday for 16 Weeks, followed by 5 bi-weekly and 5 monthly in-person maintenance sessions.
Offered for anyone who is at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The goals of this lifestyle change program are for participants to lose 5-7% of their body weight and increase their physical activity to 150 minutes per week.
