Biography
A native of Connecticut, Joan Attig graduated from the University of Utah College of Nursing in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She returned to the College of Nursing and graduated in 1996 with a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty of Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She is currently certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center.
In 2000, Joan and her family relocated to Rutland, Vermont to be closer to their relatives. Joan worked nine years for Genesis Physician Services. She worked in two nursing home/rehabilitation centers in Rutland as a Nurse Practitioner and Wound Care Specialist.
After completing the wound care program from Emory University, she graduated in spring of 2015. She became a Certified Wound Care Nurse and Certified Foot Care Nurse through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board in March 2015. Joan is also a Certified Wound Specialist through the American Academy of Wound Management.
Joan has been working at the Rutland General Surgery Wound Ostomy & Continence Clinic at Rutland Regional Medical Center since January of 2014. She is a member of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Society and a member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. She also serves on the Infection Control committee at Rutland Regional.
Joan met her husband, Ray, in Utah where they were avid hang glider pilots. They have two daughters. Joan’s interests include walking, hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
