Biography
Growing up in a military family, it was important to Dr. Gleeson to give back in the same way. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Oceanography from the United States Naval Academy, Dr. Gleeson served in the Navy as a meteorologist for several years. After leaving the service, he went to Dartmouth Medical School where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and a PhD in Immunology.
Prior to coming to Rutland Regional, Dr. Gleeson worked at the White River Junction VA Medical Center, where he found significant satisfaction helping other veterans and training Dartmouth Medicine Residents and Gastroenterology Fellows. Dr. Gleeson is excited about the unique opportunities available at Rutland Regional which will allow him to have a greater impact on his patients and to be an active part of the Rutland area medical community.
Dr. Gleeson understands how frustrating and frightening it can be to receive a difficult medical diagnosis. “I chose to become a doctor after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease with little explanation and many unanswered questions. Sharing a common experience helps me connect to my patients and develop trust as we work together in their care.”
Dr. Gleeson enjoys hiking, mountain biking and nordic skiing with his wife and daughters. They currently live in the Upper Valley with their much-loved Vizsla but are looking forward to getting to know the Rutland community.
