Rutland Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Todd Gregory, MD, FACEP, FAAEM has been named Rutland Regional Medical Center’s 2013 Physician of the Year. Due to the acknowledgment from colleagues and medical peers, this annual announcement is one of the community’s most prestigious honors bestowed upon a physician. Dr. Gregory is the Emergency Department Medical Director and selected as the medical staff member who best personifies the hospital’s core values and patient-centered model of care. “Dr. Gregory is truly deserving of this award,” says Tom Huebner, CEO, and Rutland Regional Medical Center. “He has a deep commitment to caring for patients and their families at an often critical time in their lives.”
In a nomination submitted by his peers, Dr. Gregory was cited for his work in revitalizing the Emergency Department. On average, the board certified physicians and specially trained nurses of Rutland Regional’s Emergency Department provide high quality urgent care to more than 33,000 patients of all ages. Dr. Gregory was also commended for his skillful leadership and for his board and committee service.
Dr. Gregory joined Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department in 2007, moving from Newark, Delaware where he received his specialty training through Christiana Care Health Services and served as Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Gregory is a diplomat of the American Board of Emergency medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He holds a faculty position with the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine and serves as a member of the RRHS/RRMC Board of Directors.
Dr. Gregory graduated magna cum laude from Albany Medical College and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Middlebury College.
Dr. Gregory and his wife Carolyn have two sons, William and Thomas and lives in Clarendon. He and Carolyn have served as educators with the Four Winds Nature Education Program and den leaders for cub scouts in the Clarendon area. An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Gregory enjoys hiking, skiing, rock and ice climbing, sea-kayaking and sailing. Dr. Gregory also enjoys gardening, music and is an aspiring chef.
The Emelie Munson Perkins Physician of the Year Award was created in memory of the late Dr. Perkins who served the community in a variety of roles.
