Joan (Joni) T. Price, MD, MPH

About Me

Dr. Joni Price grew up in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom and then completed her medical training in New York City and Philadelphia. Across diverse settings both at home and abroad, Dr. Price has seen firsthand the impact that limited access to healthcare can have on underserved communities. Access to healthcare has become an important part of her practice, particularly in bringing high quality and respectful care to communities in need.

Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Price developed an interest in reproductive healthcare after working at a Planned Parenthood clinic and assisting traditional birth attendants in rural Guatemala. She has a particular interest in encouraging conversations around common health issues that aren’t usually talked about, like postpartum depression or menopause. After completing an OB/GYN residency, Dr. Price entered a Fellowship in Global Women’s Health at UNC-Chapel Hill. This presented her with the incredible opportunity to lead clinical research and provide medical care to women in Zambia, where she continues to work today.

Returning to her roots in Vermont for part of the year, while continuing her work in Zambia, gives Dr. Price the best of both worlds. She is happy to be closer to her family and looking forward to discovering the people and places that make Rutland special.
