Biography
Julie grew up in West Rutland, VT. She attended Castleton State College and obtained a Bachelor’s degree, in 2001, in Elementary Education through Psychology and Sociology. Julie went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders at Plattsburgh State University in 2005. Julie began her career in acute inpatient rehabilitation and currently works with both inpatient and outpatient settings at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Julie enjoys working with a variety of patients including those with dysphagia, aphasia, Parkinson’s, dementia, paradoxical vocal cord dysfunction, tracheostomies, and acquired brain injuries.
Julie has her ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, she is certified in Vital stimulation and in LSVT BIG® – a treatment program for patients with Parkinson’s disease. Julie has completed continuing education coursework in dysphagia, the aging brain, dementia, cognitive rehabilitation strategies, brain injury, head and neck cancer, tracheostomy tubes, laryngectomies, LSVT LOUD®, VitalStim®, Aphasia, and vocal cord dysfunction.
Julie is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Outside of work she enjoys traveling, socializing, and spending time with her family.
