RUTLAND, VT – The Bowse Health Trust Grant application process has officially opened for the 2024 grant cycle. The Bowse Health Trust provides grants to non-profit organizations that are considering the development or expansion of a program or a project that will address the wellbeing of Rutland County residents.
The Bowse Health Trust (BHT) will start its 2024 grant cycle with Letters of Intent (LOI) due on June 15, 2024. The required documents and all information about how to submit a LOI can be found on RRMC.org.
The BHT grant funds are focused on new initiatives that provide residents in the Rutland Region an opportunity to live a healthy life. Specifically, the BHT grants support projects that address health equity within the priority needs identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment, which include housing, childcare and parenting, supporting the aging community, and mental health. The intent of the funds is to address these identified health priority areas using an innovative approach. Funded programs will be highly collaborative and have sound plans for financial sustainability after the three years of funding are complete.
The BHT grant funding opportunity has been supporting local non-profit organizations serving Rutland County residents for more than 28 years. The process to apply begins with submitting a two-page LOI form that provides a brief overview of proposed programming. Based on the minimal information from the LOI’s submitted, the BHT Committee will invite applicants to submit a full proposal. Full proposals require more detailed information about the proposed work.
This year the BHT has updated and simplified the process and application packet to reflect the need in the community and to decrease the time and resources needed for organizations to apply. The simplification of the application process was initiated to make the application less intense and more accessible to area agencies.
LOIs for the 2024 grant cycle are due June 15. Agencies selected from the LOIs will be asked to submit a full proposal no later than September 15. Grant awards are announced by December 15, and grant funds will start on January 1, 2025. The Bowse Health Trust was established in 1996 by Rutland Regional Medical Center to fund collaborative, community-based programs aimed at creating a healthier community. A resolution by the Rutland Regional Health Services (RRHS) Board of Directors renamed this initiative in memory of James T. Bowse, President/CEO of Rutland Regional and RRHS. Jim died unexpectedly on June 17, 1997. He came to Rutland Regional in 1989 and, during his tenure, maintained an active interest in the health and wellness of the community. Jim was instrumental establishing the Trust in the fall of 1996. Since then, the Bowse Health Trust has funded over $4.5M to 64 programs in the Rutland Region.
