Published on May 21, 2026
RUTLAND, VT – On Friday, May 15, Rutland Regional Medical Center hosted the annual Green Mountain Gala at Roots the Restaurant in downtown Rutland. The Gala is RRMC’s signature fundraising event, organized annually by the Rutland Health Foundation and a dedicated volunteer committee, to raise awareness and support for hospital programs and services.
All proceeds from this year’s Gala, which was sold out, support the cost of bringing a new robotic surgical system platform to RRMC for use by the hospital.
“We are grateful to our community for the generous support of this new technology, which will help to improve patient outcomes, and broaden the range of minimally invasive procedures available in our local region,” said Judi Fox, President and CEO.
Dr. Sarah Decker, Medical Director at RRMC’s Rutland Women’s Healthcare and Dr. Tessa Cattermole, General Surgeon at RRMC’s Rutland General Surgery, joined Fox in addressing the crowd, sharing some of the benefits of a new robotics surgery platform for the hospital and our local region.
In her remarks, Dr. Cattermole discussed the long-term value of the new technology for our community, noting that an “investment in robotic surgery at RRMC will help to keep care local and ensures patients do not need to travel for advanced surgical care.”
Dr. Decker shared some of the benefits of the new technology for the hospital, primarily in attracting and retaining providers, explaining that “enhanced access to advanced robotic technology will help to strengthen RRMC’s ability to recruit and retain highly skilled surgeons in the areas of gynecology, urology and general surgery.”
Since 2003, the Green Mountain Gala has raised nearly $1,000,000 for vital healthcare initiatives. In the past few years, donations from the event have supported the renovation of the hospital’s Psychiatric Services Inpatient Unit, the fifth floor Palliative Care Comfort Suites, the expansion of the Infusion Center, and most recently, a new PET scanner and linear accelerator.
Community support continues to play an important role at RRMC helping the hospital’s providers and staff meet the ever changing healthcare needs of patients, through innovative, high quality programs and services. “We were thrilled with the strong participation and enthusiasm for the event this year,” said Traci Moore, Senior Director of Development & Community Relations at Rutland Regional Medical Center. “RRMC is grateful for the overwhelming support of our community, and appreciate the generosity of our volunteers, sponsors, and guests. Special thanks to Roots the Restaurant and the Aaron Audet Band for their help in making the event such a great success.”
The Rutland Health Foundation is the fundraising department of Rutland Regional Medical Center. The Foundation helps to develop philanthropic priorities that enable the hospital to look to the future and continue to provide high quality healthcare throughout the greater Rutland County region. The foundation produces several events throughout the year to raise funds to support RRMC’s organizational priorities. Additionally, the Foundation oversees the Bowse Health Trust which is the grant funding department of RRMC which supports organizations facilitating and managing programs and projects that work toward creating a healthier community.
