Rutland Regional Medical Center celebrated and honored six extraordinary nurses with the DAISY Award during Nurses Week in May. Three nurses were honored with the individual DAISY Award, and two nurses and an LNA were honored with the DAISY Team Award.
Holly Fox, ASN, RN, OCN, Foley Cancer Center: Holly was nominated by a patient of the Foley Cancer Center who said, “she consoled me and reassured me that I would be okay,” even calling the patient at home to check on them and ease some of their worries.
William Guban, ASN, RN, Emergency Department: William was nominated by a patient receiving care in the Emergency Department who said that William “made me feel so much better emotionally. He was incredibly reassuring, reminding me to ask as many questions as I needed to ask. He made me feel seen and heard.”
Christina Myers, ASN, RN, Emergency Department contract staff: Christina, a temporary contract RN working at RRMC, was also presented with an Individual DAISY Award from her agency. She was recognized for her work at RRMC as she exhibited a calm, soft, and caring manner, was attentive to her patient, and provided comfort during a stressful time
Maria Francisco, BSN, RN, Danielle Fitzsimmons BSN, RN, and Felixberta “Mitzi” Giffen, LNA, Medical Oncology Unit Nursing Care Team: The team was nominated by the family of a patient who was on end-of-life care. The family expressed their appreciation when they said, “They were professional, skilled, and above all supportive, and tremendously empathetic. They treated my mom and our entire very large family with respect and dignity.”

In June, members of the volunteer Rutland Area Medical Community Scholarship Committee awarded six scholarships to local students pursuing a career in healthcare.
This year’s recipients include graduating high school senior, Emily Porchesa, Rutland High School, who will attend the University of Vermont School of Nursing. Other recipients include current RRMC employees and college students Shannon Adams, RRMC VOC Medical Assistant attending Vermont State University BSN program; Amy Harmon, RRMC Nurse Residency Program Coordinator attending University of Vermont NP program; Melissa McLeod, RRMC Pediatric RN Case Manager attending Western Governors University BSN program; Zachary Razanouski, RRMC ED Technician attending SUNY Adirondack School of Nursing; and Maeve Sheehe, RRMC VOC Medical Assistant who will attend Franklin Pierce PA program.

Oliver Subaru of Rutland, in partnership with the New York/Vermont Chapter of Blood Cancer United, delivered eighty (80) blankets to the Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC).
The generous donation of blankets provides warmth and comfort to patients receiving cancer care and treatment at RRMC. The donation is part of the Subaru Loves to Care® program.

Nothing is more powerful than love, especially when it is given away.
On July 9, Oliver Subaru of Rutland donated $30,000 from the 2025 Subaru Share the Love® event to support the cost of the new Linear Accelerator in the Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Representatives from Oliver Subaru of Rutland and Subaru of New England presented the donation to providers and staff at RRMC.

As a reminder, the monthly VeggieVanGo event held in Rutland has moved to the Rutland Recreation Community Center, located at 134 Community Drive in Rutland, VT. This event takes place on the first Friday of each month, subject to change for holidays and weather.
The parking lot at the Rutland Recreation Community Center WILL NOT open for cars until 9:30am, with the event starting at 10am and ending at 11am.
