Vermont State University's Castleton Women's Ice Hockey team continues their traditional Pink the Rink hockey game for the 16th year.
On Friday, February 14, Vermont State University’s Castleton Women’s Ice Hockey team will host the 16th Annual Pink the Rink game against Elmira College at the Spartan Arena.
Over the past sixteen years, the Castleton women’s hockey team has contributed more than $100,000 to the Breast Care program at Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center. The enthusiasm for this important event has been tremendous, with dedicated fans and cancer survivors “putting on their pink” to cheer the team on.
As in previous years, Castleton will trade their traditional Spartan green apparel for newly designed, limited edition pink jerseys. The jerseys will be auctioned off on-line to raise awareness and funds in support of the Foley Cancer Center. To bid on the auction go to https://www.32auctions.com/ptr2025
In addition to a huge gift basket raffle featuring a variety of local products and services, families of the Castleton players will also contribute baskets. In testimony to how universal breast cancer is, there is not a single Vermont player on the team, yet families from literally around the globe are contributing to this local Rutland region effort. VTSU Castleton will donate all proceeds from ticket sales, the 50/50 raffle drawing and Chuck-a-Puck. The first 200 fans arriving for the game will receive custom pink tee shirts courtesy of Mark Foley, Jr. and Foley Services, Inc.
While Pink the Rink is about raising funds and awareness, it is also a time for celebration for breast cancer survivors, a time to celebrate progress to find a cure and it signifies the power of many individuals and many separate communities coming together to support a common cause.
Please join in this incredible community effort and help to cheer on the Castleton Women’s Ice Hockey team on Friday, February 14. To learn more about this year’s Pink the Rink, visit castletonsports.com
