Rutland Regional Celebrates Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a national initiative created to inspire donors to take collaborative action to give back to the charities and causes they support. Giving Tuesday takes place annually on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This year, Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2024. Please join Rutland Regional Medical Center in this important giving initiative to raise funds in support of the Scanning for a Brighter Tomorrow campaign to support the cost of a new positron emission tomography (PET) scanner at the hospital.

A positron emission tomography (PET) scanner uses drug tracers that allow the machine to see where parts of the body may be diseased. The PET scanner is combined with a CT scanner so that the precise location of the abnormal area can be identified.

The use of the PET scanner continues to expand significantly each year. Rutland Regional’s Foley Cancer Center providers reference PET scans daily for critical information that guides treatment decisions. It is also becoming an increasingly valuable tool for our cardiology team. An onsite system will allow Rutland Regional to image heart disease in ways that are currently only available at larger hospitals.

As Rutland Regional continues to focus on increased access to care, the new PET scanner will help to reduce wait times for patient appointments and improve the overall patient experience. Since the new scanner will be permanently located inside the hospital, we would no longer need to use the outside mobile unit, which will enable better patient comfort and workflow efficiency. The new PET scanner is scheduled to be installed in 2026.

Make a Donation

On Giving Tuesday, we hope you will consider a donation to the Scanning for a Brighter Tomorrow campaign to support the cost of a new PET scanner. Your donation, no matter the amount will help Rutland Regional enhance our capacity to support our oncology and cardiology populations moving into the future so that patients won’t need to travel to get answers to their already challenging situations.

Community support continues to play an important role at Rutland Regional, helping providers and staff continue to meet the ever changing healthcare needs of our patients, through innovative, high quality programs and services. With your help, RRMC will expand access to essential services that support the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Thank you for your support, and happy holidays!
