Nurse Residency Program at Rutland Regional

Rutland Regional Medical Center recognizes the importance of supporting new graduate nurses as they transition into their professional practice. Since 2018, Rutland Regional has been partnering with Vizient® to support this transition through our Nurse Residency Program (NRP). The Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ includes curriculum focused on critical thinking, patient safety, leadership skills, communication skills, evidence-based practice, and professional development.

One of the main goals of the Nurse Residency Program is to provide experiences for situations that are known to cause uncertainty, reality shock and anxiety such as a deteriorating patient condition or a difficult conversation. Through simulation and practice-based learning, the new graduate nurses can maneuver through these experiences in a learner mindset and can ask questions and obtain feedback sometimes before they are exposed in the clinical setting.

Our 12-month interactive program provides resources and support to new nurses as they gain confidence and competence in providing high-quality, safe care to our community. Supportive components include regular check-ins to identify success and challenges, debriefing sessions, and self-care and stress management strategies. Seminars include subject matter experts to help you succeed- everyone involved wants you to succeed!

All new graduate nurses hired into the organization participate in the NRP in addition to their department specific onboarding. If you are a new graduate nurse interested in joining Rutland Regional, visit our job site to apply for an available RN New Graduate Internship Program job today>>>
