Honoring our Legacy. Building our Bright Future.
At Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC), we believe healthcare is more than a profession, it’s a calling. Since our founding in 1896 with just ten beds, one telephone, and a single bathroom, we’ve grown with purpose and intention. Our legacy is rooted in community, innovation, and compassionate care; values that continue to guide us as we evolve to meet the needs of a changing world.
From our early days on Nichols Street to our groundbreaking transition to the Allen Street campus in 1958, RRMC has been a pioneer in rural medicine. Innovation has always been part of our DNA, whether it was installing oxygen lines in patient rooms or connecting hospital floors through intercom systems. Today, that same spirit drives us forward.
Now the second-largest healthcare provider in Vermont and the state’s largest community hospital, RRMC is home to nearly 1,800 dedicated staff, more than 200 physicians, and 37 specialty areas. We deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across every stage of life, not only to Rutland County, but to communities throughout Vermont and neighboring New York.
Our scope is broad, yet our approach is deeply personal. From nationally recognized programs like the Foley Cancer Center to comprehensive services in cardiology, orthopedics, women’s health, and beyond; our work is grounded in a fundamental belief: true healing begins with human connection.
The StrattonAllen Leadership Recruitment Program is RRMC’s new model for identifying and integrating exceptional healthcare leaders. Created to redefine how we recruit in today’s world, StrattonAllen blends the precision of executive search with the authenticity of community connection. Our program is built on RRMC’s core values as well as additional Vermont values that define our care, authenticity, humility, and purpose. We do not simply look to recruit résumés; we are looking for innovators, team builders, and future community members who want to live well, work with meaning, and make a difference in a place that still waves back.
To provide high-quality hospital and specialty care for all through the strength and compassion of our people.
To excel at meeting the needs of those we serve as both the preferred healthcare provider and employer.
At RRMC, our values guide everything we do—from the way we care for patients to the way we collaborate as a team:
These values are not just aspirations; they’re embedded in our behaviors, our culture, and our pursuit of better outcomes for every patient we serve.
Our commitment to quality and innovation has earned national recognition:
