Allergy Care

Seasonal and environmental allergies can cause a range of symptoms that seriously affect your quality of life. We can help.

If you are experiencing sneezing, runny nose, congestion, and itchy, puffy, watery eyes related to seasonal or environmental allergies, you can trust the specialists at ENT & Audiology to help you get the relief you need.

Diagnostic Testing

Our specialists know that an accurate diagnosis is the first step to successfully treating nasal and sinus allergies. That’s why we conduct a thorough evaluation of your condition by performing a physical exam, reviewing your health history and using state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including:

Skin Testing

Skin testing introduces small amounts of allergens, or substances that can cause an allergic reaction, into your skin. Our skilled specialists will observe your skin for allergic reactions, which occur when your skin becomes red, raised and itchy. Skin reactions are usually minor and go away within an hour.

Blood Testing

Our specialists use a blood test to measure the level of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies that your body creates in response to certain allergens. Because your blood must be sent to a lab for analysis, it may take a few days to receive your test results.

Allergies

You have an allergy when your body believes that something harmless, such as peanuts or pollen, can hurt you. Your immune system overreacts. This can cause uncomfortable or even dangerous symptoms.

Treatment Options

Our specialists will carefully analyze your test results and develop an allergy treatment plan tailored to your specific diagnosis. Along with your care plan, our staff will provide you with information and education to help you effectively manage your condition. Treatment options may include:

  • Managing environmental triggers
  • Medication, such as pills or nasal sprays
  • Eye drops
  • Allergy drops

Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT)

Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is the latest, most convenient treatment option for allergies. Sometimes referred to as allergy drops, this treatment replaces the need for allergy shots by allowing you to self-administer a similar antigen under your tongue each day.

In addition to reducing your need for office visits, allergy drops improve long-term allergy control and reduce your need for allergy medication. To find out if allergy drops are right for you, talk to your allergy specialist.
