Scheduling Process for New Patients

We’ve changed our scheduling process for new patient consults to an Open-Access Model. Our goal is to provide more timely resources for behavioral health treatment. Below is an easy step-by-step process for setting up your initial appointment.

  • Call ahead (802.747.1857) to check on available appointments for the day as there are only a few available openings per day.
  • Initial Appointment Days/Time: Simply come to our office during the following designated Open-Access times: Tuesday and Thursday, 8–11:30am.
  • Registration: Upon arrival, you will have paperwork to complete and will be asked to contact the Rutland Regional Medical Center registration office via phone from our office.
  • Insurance: You are encouraged to check with your insurance to make sure Rutland Regional Behavioral Health is considered in your network for outpatient mental health counseling and to be aware of any co-pay and/or deductible you may have.
  • Assessment: An intake clinician will assess you, make treatment recommendations, and schedule a follow-up appointment with the clinician who will be providing your continued care. (Please note that the intake clinician may or may not be the clinician that you remain with.) Please be aware, that medications are not refilled or prescribed in the initial consultation.
  • Medication: If a medication assessment is determined to be part of the plan of care, you will be scheduled to meet with the next available prescriber. Please be aware that the appointment with the prescriber is a consultation and there are no guarantees medications would be prescribed at that appointment.

Outpatient Consultation

With a physician referral, our caring, compassionate behavioral and mental health experts will provide you or your loved one with a complete psychological evaluation that includes:

  • A psychological exam
  • Cognitive and psychological functioning tests
  • Intellectual assessment
  • Diagnosis of mental or behavioral health condition(s)
  • Behavioral, psychological or medication therapy recommendations

During the consultation period, your referring physician will continue to provide your medical care and any necessary medications. After your consultation is complete, our specialists will provide a copy of your written evaluation to your referring physician. If required, we will coordinate care with your physician to discuss your evaluation and our treatment recommendations.
