Depending on the extent and severity of your condition, your doctor may recommend surgery. Our general surgeons are skilled in performing a variety of procedures, including:
- Lumpectomy, during which the tumor and a small amount of surrounding tissue are removed.
- Mastectomy, during which one or both breasts and some of the lymph nodes in the armpit are completely removed.
During chemotherapy, medication is administered intravenously to kill cancer cells throughout your body. For your comfort and safety, the Foley Cancer Center offers specially designed chemotherapy treatment rooms staffed by caring and experienced medical oncology nurses.
Radiation therapy uses high-powered X-ray beams to shrink and kill cancer cells in a specific area of your body. We use the latest, most effective radiation administration techniques, the Varian Trilogy linear accelerator, to maximize treatment success while minimizing exposure to healthy surrounding tissues.
