GreenLight™ Laser Therapy

Treatment for Enlarged Prostate

GreenLight Laser therapy is used to relieve moderate to severe urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). GreenLight uses laser light to evaporate prostatic tissue which is blocking the outlet of the bladder.

This is a minimally invasive procedure performed under anesthesia. In most cases, patients are able to go home the same day. Greenlight Laser can be done on prostates of up to 150gms.

Though GreenLight Laser has fewer complications than other surgical treatments, there are some side effects so you should talk to your doctor to ensure that the GreenLight Laser is right for you. This procedure provides relief from BPH without the use of implants. Patients report noticeable improvements within two weeks of the procedure with full improvement realized by the third month.

How GreenLight Laser Works

  1. The doctor inserts a scope up through the penis to the urethra to the prostate blockage
  2. A laser is passed through the scope and delivers energy to remove the excess tissue
  3. The laser and then the scope are removed
