Centering Pregnancy

At Rutland Women’s Healthcare, we understand that moms-to-be need more than just great prenatal medical care. That’s why we offer additional guidance, empowerment and support through our Centering Pregnancy Program.
As well as providing all the recommended components of prenatal care such as health assessments, screenings and education, the Centering Pregnancy Program brings together women with similar due dates for discussions and support on a variety of topics, including:
- Pregnancy and related discomforts
- Labor and delivery
- Newborn care
- Breastfeeding
- Nutrition
- Overall health
- Stress management
Our Centering Pregnancy Program follows a nationally recognized, holistic model of care and is approved by the Centering Healthcare Institute.
The Centering Pregnancy Program
Our Centering Pregnancy Program follows the recommended schedule of 10 prenatal visits. During each visit, expectant moms help manage their own care by recording their weight and blood pressure and meet privately with their provider for additional health assessments.
After health assessments are complete, the provider, support staff and a group of 8-10 moms-to-be with similar due dates gather for facilitated group discussion and activities. Each appointment lasts about two hours. Expectant moms are encouraged to bring their partners or another support person with them to each appointment.
