The outpatient Wound, Ostomy & Continence (WOC) Clinic at Rutland Regional provides compassionate and comprehensive wound, ostomy, tube and continence services that will help to improve your overall well-being and quality of life.

Our specialists work closely with you and your loved ones to develop a personalized care management plan that fits your lifestyle. To ensure that you receive the best ongoing care, your plan will incorporate education and instruction for you and your caregivers.

Our Wound Clinic

Our wound clinic provides complete outpatient wound care that helps reduce your risk for complications and improve your quality of life. With a focus on early intervention, overall well-being and education, our specialists offer ongoing monitoring and treatment for a range of conditions, including:

  • Arterial ulcers
  • Atypical wounds
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Edema
  • Immobilization/spinal injury
  • Nonhealing surgical wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Skin tears/lacerations
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Wound drainage problems
  • Wounds caused by trauma

We use the latest wound management techniques and therapies to help you heal quickly and completely, including bioengineered skin grafts/substitutes, compression therapy, negative pressure therapy, specialized dressings, total contact casting and wound debridement.

Because our specialists believe that overall health contributes to proper healing, we offer a range of educational programs on topics such as smoking cessation, nutritional support, glycemic control and pressure relief technologies.

Ostomy & Feeding Tube Care

If you have an ostomy (an artificial opening in an organ of your body that was created during an operation) or a feeding tube, proper care is critical to your ongoing health. Our specialists offer a range of services to meet your unique needs, including:

  • Preoperative instruction, education and selection of the stoma site (the opening on the surface of your body)
  • Postoperative instruction and education for you and your caregivers
  • Assessment and management of your ongoing feeding/care plan
  • Assistance with selecting and obtaining medical supplies
  • Coordination of care with other medical providers
  • Long-term education and support

Continence Care

Our specialists work with the urological team at Marble Valley Urology to help with incontinence issues can cause embarrassment and affect your quality of life. That’s why we offer comprehensive, effective continence care with a compassionate touch. We will conduct a thorough evaluation of the factors that may be contributing to your incontinence and offer a range of treatment services, including:

  • Development of toileting programs
  • Instruction and education for you and your caregivers
  • Pelvic muscle exercise instruction
  • Clean intermittent self-catheterization instruction
  • Skin care instruction
  • Assistance with selecting and obtaining medical supplies

Our Wound & Ostomy Care Team

Our care team will collaborate with other medical providers, including your referring physician, specialists, home health agency and skilled/extended care nursing facility to ensure that you receive the most complete care. Our team includes:

  • General surgeons. Our general surgeons offer on-site consultations, as needed, for comprehensive vascular assessment, minimally invasive venous ablation, skin grafting and other conditions associated with wound, ostomy and continence care.
  • Nurse practitioner. Our board-certified nurse practitioner is involved in all aspects of patient care and is specially certified in wound care.
  • Certified wound and ostomy registered nurses (CWON). Our registered nurses are specially certified in wound and ostomy care.
